Background<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Under the Archery GB classification system<\/strong>, Bowman classifications (3rd, 2nd, 1st)<\/strong> cannot be obtained with practice rounds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Shooting Administrative Procedure 7<\/strong> states:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

All scores must be shot under Archery GB Rules of Shooting, at a meeting organised by Archery GB or a body affiliated to Archery GB, or at any associated club target day (Rules of Shooting \u2013 Rule 313).<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Club Policy<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

To give members more opportunities to achieve Bowman classifications, Devizes Bowmen recognises scores shot on official \u201cBowman Sessions\u201d<\/strong>.
These sessions follow the Archery GB Rules of Shooting and the requirements of Rule 313<\/strong>, which specifies:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    \n
  • A Club Target Day is any day and time appointed under the Rules of the Club and previously announced to members.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • There is no statutory limit to the number of officially appointed Target Days in any one week.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • All scores must be entered in the Club Record Book<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Target Days should commence punctually at the announced time.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • All shooting must be in accordance with the Rules of Shooting<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
    \n\n\n\n

    Bowman Session Rules<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    To count towards a Bowman classification, a Bowman Session<\/strong> must follow these rules:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      \n
    • Minimum participants:<\/strong> At least two archers<\/strong> must shoot together, each attempting a Bowman classification.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Rounds:<\/strong> Archers may shoot different rounds<\/strong>, but all must start at the same time<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • Sighters:<\/strong>\n
        \n
      • Outdoor: one end<\/strong> of sighters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Indoor: two ends<\/strong> of sighters.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • If the target is moved to a new distance as part of the round, no further sighters<\/strong> are allowed.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Practice arrows:<\/strong> Shooting practice arrows immediately before a Bowman session is discouraged<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Completing a round:<\/strong> Once started, a round must be completed<\/strong>. It is not acceptable to abandon a round and start another<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Second round:<\/strong> A second round may be attempted in the same session only if the first round has been completed<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Breaks:<\/strong> One interval may be taken during a round, typically at halfway<\/strong>, lasting one or two ends<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Score sheets:<\/strong>\n
          \n
        • Scores must be signed and witnessed<\/strong> by another archer taking part in the session.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • All submitted scores must be clearly marked \u201cBowman session\u201d<\/strong> for the Records Officer\u2019s attention.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Arranging sessions:<\/strong>\n
            \n
          • Individual archers may agree a time and date<\/strong> for a Bowman session.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • The club may also arrange Bowman sessions and will advertise these to all members<\/strong> (for example, via the WhatsApp group<\/strong>) to allow wider participation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
            \n\n\n\n

            Indoor Sessions<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

            All upcoming indoor sessions<\/strong> are automatically designated as Bowman sessions<\/strong>, because:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

              \n
            • They are regular and diarised<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • The indoor environment is controlled and consistent<\/strong>, making administration straightforward.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
